Vaudeville Acts Are Known For Being Very Unique And Interesting

Vaudeville acts are typically variety shows in which each act involves short though unrelated performances. Vaudeville is in fact a specialized form of entertainment that grew very popular between the end of the nineteenth century and the middle of the following century. These acts were also primarily being performed in the US and in Canada.

Vaudeville acts then began to be incorporated into the entire range of entertainment performances and soon were made part of plays as well as short duration films. They were also included in dances as well as in musical acts, and some of the acts were ripped off from circus acts as well as from freak shows as well as other similar entertainment forms.

Each such act however, continued to remain unique and this was because it offered the performer a chance to do something truly unique. Some typical examples of these acts involved those in which musicians performed or in which use was made of dancers and in some cases, it even involved acting.

All of these acts would also incorporate some strange acts such as having trained animals do something unique or which involved use of impersonations done by male or female performers. What was typical of these acts was that they were disjointed and not connected to one another and so audiences got to be served up with some truly random shows.

The beginnings of vaudeville can be traced to the need to cater to the demands of middle class audiences that included men and women. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, these acts became separate form of entertainment that grew out of saloon shows and also from shows performed in variety halls.

Then toward the beginning of the twentieth century, vaudeville acts became hugely popular and were being performed in all major towns and cities and such was their popularity that some places even erected special buildings where vaudeville shows could be performed.
